Federal Way leads South King County as a livable, vibrant and well-connected community. A reimaged City Center and defined Downtown is the heart of the city and a source of pride. The natural environment thrives; businesses prosper; abundant housing options meet diverse needs; the community is socially engaged and feels a sense of belonging; and, getting around is convenient and safe. The community embraces its commitment to unlocking its untapped potential.

My big idea for Federal Way is to…
7 months agoCLOSED: This ideas has concluded. As the city embarks on a project to think about its future, we are looking for ideas from the community on growth, city issues, and what should be kept and what should change. Please provide us your ideas by answering the question below and adding a post-it note to our Vision Message Board. Thank you.
Juannie9 months agoHonoring John & Mary Conna
These African American Pioneers donated over 157 acres of land to Federal Way, and there is absolutely no recognition of this. Federal way has a "Preserve History, Arts & Culture" element, but John & Mary Conna have been erased or ignored completely in Federal Way history. Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Cultural Recognition & Responsiveness would certainly mean that this history is valid, and deserving of representation and preservation.

Create a space where people can display their creative talents in the form of food and crafts. Some sort of covered area for folks to sit and eat outside year round. Make it so that vendors are vying for the opportunity to park their food truck or set up their pop up experience!
0 comment1Transitabout 2 years agoSustainability Downtown
A modern mixed use development site that is sustainable, encourages walking, transit use and biking. As well as being environmentally friendly. Have rain gardens, solar panels, no parking, etc. Make it very anti car so people feel safe and comfortable walking, etc thru downtown. Not a fan of the bridge over S320th since that just seems silly till we take pedestrian and cycling as serious modes of travel in this city. Instead add some buffered protected bike lanes to make getting around town easier and safe. and missing sidewalk completed, make S320th less of a highway and more connected to the community S320th right now looks awful dividing Downtown like a river, same can be said for Pac Highway... Narrow 320th and add some bike lanes or green space! The car noise in the downtown is awful, fully discourages pedestrian use. I hope the future of downtown has a walkable community with residential units mixed with stores and offices, wide paths for people to stroll and ride thru no car traffic, less stress, better health, safety, less pollution.

The downtown area needs to look more pleasant to attract businesses and people. Add nice landscaping and seasonal decor along 320th and PacHwy, tidy up those street medians and pick up litter.
0 comment1Bob Colemanabout 2 years agoTake the 376th St./19 Way South Extension out of the Comprehensive Plan
The city can't explain why it is ramming this extension through the plan. It will only create mayhem for the residents. Using a residential neighborhood to directly connect Milton Road to Enchanted Highway will pose unnecessary dangers to residents and kids in the park. It will be a raceway for trucks and drivers trying to escape Hwy 99, and I-5. We are surrounded by commercial truck centers and this will only chop our neighborhood up.

0 comment0Kristopher Wilburnalmost 2 years agoFestivals and museums
Federal Way is continuing to grow. I feel that there needs to be more activities that I think people would enjoy. It would be great to see festivals that celebrate different things such as music festival, movie festival, cultural festivals and etc. Other cities around the Puget Sound and country have festivals that people come to celebrate and have fun. I also think that Federal Way needs a museum starting with the history of Federal way and having different culture backgrounds display.

The Commons should turn to place where people want to do a date night, take kids to on rainy days and general place the hang out. Add lazer tag, arcade, restaurants, breweries, mini golf, etc. Washington is a rainy place and the commons is the center of this city which should be a gathering place :)
